Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan of Delta State was on Saturdayhonoured as the Sun man of the year for the year 2013. The awards in its 11th edition has since its inception in 2003 been designed to celebrate members of the Nigerian society who have distinguished themselves in their various fields of endeavour including government so encourage them to do more, while challenging others to emulate them.
Presenting the award to the Governor Uduaghan, the chairman of the occasion and Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Chief Anyim Pius Anyim said that it was a thing of pride for him to present the award to governor Uduaghan, that he was not surprise at it knowing the amount of work that the governor that has done in Delta state.
Receiving the award, Governor Uduaghan thanked the Sun newspaper for the honour saying that the award is not for him alone but for all Deltans. He also noted that 7 out of the 14 people that got awarded at the event are from delta state, which is a prove to the fact that the greatest resources Delta had was not Oil, but Human resources, which in the first place informed his recent campaign “Delta beyond Oil”.
Those that also got awards at event included Governor of Kano state Alhaji Rabiu KwanKwaso (Man of the year), Mrs. Ekaette Akpabio the first lady of Akwa Ibom state (Most Supportive First Lady), Alhaji Sayyu Dantata(Business Person of the year), and Tony Elumelu (Investor of the year) .
