United Face Palace

Manchester United will be aiming for three Premier League points when they travel to Crystal Palace on Saturday evening. Kick-off at Selhurst Park is set for 19h30 CAT.

The Red Devils have been held to draws in their previous two league matches and cannot afford to drop points this weekend as they aim to revive their top four ambitions.

David Moyes’s side find themselves placed seventh on the log on 42 points, 11 adrift of fourth-placed Liverpool.

United’s January acquisition Juan Mata believes that the team can still finish in the top quartet and claim a Champions League berth for next season.

“The objective is to get to the Champions League spots,” Mata told Spanish TV station Canal Plus.

“It’s difficult because Liverpool are doing well, so are Arsenal, as well as Tottenham and Everton, who are all clubs also fighting for them, but I think we have a team who can do it.

“This is Manchester United. When this club wins two, three or four matches in a row, it has a winner’s mentality.

“We are coming and I think we can do it, but we have to win a lot of games first.”

Yet Palace will be no pushovers, especially as they have improved in recent times under coach Tony Pulis. From being bottom of the log when their new manager took over, the Eagles have climbed to 15th and are two points clear of the danger zone.

Their previous fixture against Everton was postponed due to bad weather last week, but three wins from their last four league matches suggests a team that is high on confidence and will be eager to claim a big scalp like Man United’s.
