Alan Pardew’s side have lost all three of their games in the month of February, conceding 10 goals in the process.
The disastrous run that included a 3-0 home loss to fierce rivals Sunderland, the second year in a row the ‘Magpies suffered a 3-0 loss on home soil to the Black Cats.
As a result Pardew is under massive pressure to win against Villa with some reports suggesting that he will be given the boot if he fails to secure all three points on Sunday.
Similarly Villa have struggled in their past few games and have also yet to win a game in February.
The Villans lost 2-1 to Everton at the start of the month before losing at home to West Ham and keeping Cardiff City to a goalless draw last time out.
Villa have no fresh injury concerns heading into the fixture while there is some good news for Pardew who could welcome back three key players.
Loic Remy will return from suspension after picking up a red card against Norwich City last month while skipper Fabricio Coloccini and influential midfielder Cheick Tiote could return for the Tyneside club.
Coloccini has been struggling with a knee injury while Tiote picked up a slight knock in training leading up to the game against Chelsea.
The corresponding fixture between the sides last season ended in a 1-1 draw.
Ciaran Clark opened the scoring for the visitors before Hatem Ben Arfa struck on the hour mark to secure a point for the ‘Geordies.
The reverse fixture at Villa Park earlier this season ended in a 2-1 win for Newcastle than goals from Ben Arfa and Yoan Gouffran.
