Arsenal will be looking to get back to winning ways when they host Sunderland at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday afternoon. Kickoff at 17h00 (CAT).
Arsenal are currently in a phase which could determine their season. The Gunners head into this match after a 2-0 home loss in the UEFA Champions League. Arsene Wenger’s men have not won their last two league games after a defeat at Liverpool and a draw at home to Manchester United.
The Gunners are currently placed second on the Barclays Premier League with 56 points, just a point behind first placed Chelsea and two points ahead of third placed Manchester City. Arsenal have lost just one of their last 20 Barclays Premier League games against Sunderland with 12 wins, seven draws and just one loss.
The Gunners have been stingy at home this season to visiting teams. Arsenal have not conceded a Premier League goal at the Emirates Stadium for seven hours and 36 minutes. Mesut Ozil made his debut in the reverse fixture earlier this season and set up Olivier Giroud’s opening goal.
Sunderland have not won away at Arsenal in the league since November 1983, losing 10 of the 14 visits since.
The Black Cats are currently occupying one of the relegation spots as they are placed 18th on the log standings with 24 points from 25 games.
They will however have an opportunity of winning their first silverware since the 1973 FA Cup when they play City next weekend in the Capital One final Wembley Stadium.
