Club Proprietor Dies In Training

The proprietor of Ogun State League defending champions Destiny Sports Club (DSC FC), Pastor Abraham Shola Oki is dead. Oki who hails from Itsekiri tribe in Delta State slumped while watching his team train last Saturday at the club’s training ground in Badagry.

Oki who was the Founding Pastor Destiny Worship Center according to one of his players died at the Medical Center in Ajara a satellite town in Badagry where he was rushed to immediately he slumped. The club owner is married with four children, three girls and a seven month old boy.

Oki who also doubles as Technical Adviser of his club led his team to Ogun State FA Cup final three years ago and just last year (2013) his team won the state League title which it is defending this year. No fewer than 11 of his players have traveled abroad to seek greener pastures even as the club has produced quite a number of players for the Flying Eagles and Golden Eaglets.

Says our source, “our proprietor cum technical adviser Pastor Oki died last Saturday. He slumped during training and was rushed to Ajara Medical Center where he eventually gave up the ghost. He was hale and hearty before the unfortunate incident. There was no sign of ailment. His death has thrown us into confusion as we don’t know what to do next. Before training on that fateful day he addressed us and spoke on his plans for the club this year which includes the FA Cup because he registered the club under Ogun State even though the club is based in Badagry here in Lagos. It is a sad loss indeed.”

National Weekender gathered that the body of late Oki has been deposited in the mortuary as his family plans on his burial arrangement. It is not clear where the club owner will be buried but family source hinted that it could be in his hometown in Delta South or in Badagry. Pastor Abraham Shola Oki is 52 years old.
