UNILAG: Hostel Occupants Receive Vacation Notice

Hostels occupants of the University of Lagos (UNILAG) have been served a vacation notice by the school authority.

Sources have it that, the notice was delivered to the students by the Dean Student’s Affairs, Professor OluwakayodeAmund who revealed the management’s intention to rehabilitate the school hostels which presently is in a bad state explaining that, proper work can only be done when the hostels are vacant hence the need for the students to vacate the hostels immediately after their examination.

Lagos-20140210-00614This will afford the contractors two weeks of work before the students resume on the second week of March.

Some students who spoke with NationalWeekender correspondent said that they received the notice with mixed feelings explaining that as much as they are happy that the school management has finally heeded to their cry to rehabilitate the school hostel especially the toilets, are not planning on traveling since they just returned from a very long break caused by the ASUU strike.

They commended the vice-chancellor, Professor R.A Bello for the initiative adding that the action speaks of him as a father who has the interest of his children at heart.

Students have since started vacating the hostels.
