Super Eagles coach, Stephen Keshi may recall his captain Joseph Yobo and Osaze Odemwingie to join the rest of the squad that will be picked for the preparation of Brazil 2014 FIFA World Cup.
Yobo recently moved to the EPL where he plays for Norwich City. Though the Fernebahce defender is on loan but Keshi’s body language signifies that a regular action for Yobo could return him back to the team which he has been kept away from after the AFCON triumph in South Africa a year ago. Keshi may also need Yobo’s experience to strengthen the central defence which has the quartet of Turkey-based Godfrey Oboabona, Middlesborough on-loan lad Kenneth Omeruo, home-based Azubuike Egwuekwe and new CHAN discovery Kunle Odunlami. “At the World Cup level experience always makes the difference and Yobo has been to two World Cup tournaments in Korea/Japan 2002 and South Africa 2010 will be handy to give the defence line the experience needed,” says Dosu Joseph a former first choice goalkeeper of the Super Eagles.
Meanwhile, Osaze Odemwingie could also be on his way back to the team as Keshi gets set to unveil the 40-man list for the World Cup preparation. Osaze has been out of favour following his utterances which made Keshi slam the doors of the team at him. But with the Stoke City new signing proving his relevance in the EPL by moving to two different clubs in just a season even though on loan, perhaps Keshi will recall him especially as he is said to have turned a new leaf after being left of the team for long.
A camp source however revealed that, “Keshi is not really disposed to recalling Osaze despite the pressure from several quarters to take the former Lille and West Brom striker to Brazil but events of the next few weeks will really determine the fate of the player who has shown great signs of remorse.”
