Three fake Boko Haram leaders in court for fraud

Three people posing as Boko Haram leaders have been arraigned before the Maiduguri High Court for allegedly defrauding a member of the Presidential Committee on Peaceful Resolution of Security Challenges in the North of N70 million, according to reports.
The member of the defunct committee, Aisha Alkali Wakil was told by these fake Boko Haram leaders that they could convince others to drop arms and embrace dialogue.
They were paid part of the money on the first date of their meeting with Wakil.
The suspects, Kalama Abba, Babagana Mallam Saje and Abba Sadiq (alias Sheik Abbas), were allegedly paid a total of N12.5 million when they first met her.
Though they pleaded not guilty the court requested that they be remanded in prison as the case was adjourned to January 28, 2014.
