The police in Nasarawa State have stated that it arrested over 2,000 suspects out of which 92 cases were successfully investigated, prosecuted and convicted.
It also recovered over 110 firearms in the state in 2013.
Addressing journalists yesterday in Lafia, the state commissioner of police, Umar Shehu, said the achievement was as a result of the proactive strategies adopted by the command and also the collaborative synergy with sister security agencies and good spirited members of the public.
Statistics made available to journalists shows that the command has recovered a total of 13 AK 47, six AK 49 rifles, two sub-machine guns, three O6 rifles and about 2,000 rounds of live ammunition of various calibrations were also recovered from hoodlums in the year under review.
Umar also revealed that the command recovered over 40 vehicles and 50 motorcycles in its effort to curb activities robbers who specialize in car theft especially along the Nasarawa-Abuja corridor.
The commissioner also revealed that 185 cases bordering on fraud were prosecuted in 2013, as compared to 302 in 2012. 43 cases of belonging to unlawful society were also recorded and prosecuted.
