West Bromwich Albion Nigerian striker Victor Anichebe still has a chance to make the Super Eagles squad for Brazil 2014 FIFA World Cup a close source to team’s coach Stephen Keshi has revealed. According to our source Keshi is very much disposed to having the trio of Anichebe, Bright Dike and Shola Ameobi in his squad given their physical appearance which makes them threats to defenders.
In his words, “Keshi wants to have the trio of Ameobi, Dike and Anichebe to compliment the efforts top forwards of the team like Emmanuel Emenike, Brown Ideye and Victor Moses who have already distinguished themselves in the team since the AFCON tournament in South Africa.
“Keshi already has a mindset about his team. He intend keeping his old boys who helped win the AFCON title but he also wants to inject new players whose physical presence would add value to what the AFCON players can do in Brazil. Keshi is concentrating more on his attack because he seems to have a magic wand in building a very strong defense as a former defense Trojan himself.
“His ability to build confidence in players like Godfrey Oboabona and Kenneth Omeruo who jointly and successfully marshaled the defence during the AFCON tournament has further boosted the confidence of other players in that department especially the home-based players. This means that Keshi is focusing on goal scoring because goals will surely make great difference at the world stage. In the light of this Anichebe stands a good chance to make the team if only he shows commitment and patriotism. Keshi really wants him but he has to prove that he is ready to fly with Eagles. Anichebe’s attitude towards the national team has not been encouraging despite Keshi’s several attempts to get him in. He really needs to change.”
